KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintenance, monitoring and support of Oracle 19c databases and Microsoft SQL Server Databases (v2012 – v2019)
  • Working as part of a Database Administration Team
  • Supporting Business and IT colleagues in the planning, testing and implementation of projects
  • Mentoring junior members of the team
  • Oracle 19c Database Upgrades
  • Oracle RMAN backup configuration and restores
  • Oracle Data guard configuration and maintenance
  • Oracle and SQL Server Database performance tuning
  • Oracle Cloud Control maintenance and monitoring
  • Oracle APEX (versions 18.1 and 21.2) installation and configuration
  • Planning, implementation, testing and documentation of Oracle quarterly Patch Set Updates
  • Microsoft SQL Server SCOM monitoring and alerting
  • Microsoft SQL Server Security Updates, Cumulative Updates etc.
  • Participation in Business Continuity and Database Restore activities.
  • Maintenance of all process and procedure documents for the Database Administration team

REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Oracle 19c and Microsoft SQL Server Certification

Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a similar role within a technical team with 10 years’ experience in IT
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience as a Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Database Administrator
  • SCOM monitoring and alerting
  • Microsoft Windows Server environments
  • Prompt production database support
  • Production of Technical Documentation
  • Database Security and Monitoring experience
  • Oracle Data guard configuration and maintenance
  • Oracle Database 19c performance tuning
  • Oracle Cloud Control
  • Oracle APEX (versions 18.1 and 21.2) installation and configuration
  • Proven experience in Planning, implementation, testing and documentation of Oracle and Microsoft quarterly Patch Set Updates
  • Ability and interest in learning new technologies

Familiarity or qualifications in the following areas would be a distinct advantage

  • Oracle ODI
  • Database migration to Cloud environments
  • Database maintenance in Cloud environments
  • Oracle OBI
  • Oracle Advanced Security
  • PCI Database Security Standards
  • Commvault integration with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases
  • PowerShell Scripting
